“Montréal’s New Harbourfront” is the vision of a revitalization and redevelopment of almost five million square feet in the area surrounding Montréal's Harbour.
The Société du Havre de Montréal, the Québec Government and the City of Montréal were informed of the broad directions of this strategy, an important first step kick-starting the development of the harbourfront. On-going consultations with key stakeholders and the public will happen throughout the development of the project.
CLC is uniquely qualified to handle a redevelopment of this scope and size and has worked on projects in many communities across Canada. With a track record of extremely successful redevelopment projects, CLC has been recognized within the development industry for innovations in building, environmental sustainability, respecting heritage and creating a community consultation process, all while ensuring each project is financially viable.
CLC pays market value for all of the properties it purchases from the Government of Canada.
It is still early in the redevelopment process and no decisions have been made. CLC must conduct several studies and consultations to determine the most appropriate use for the properties. The community, other stakeholders, the environment, and fiscal responsibility must also be considered.
CLC intends to respect the existing leases that the tenants have signed with the Montréal Port Authority.
The operations of the working port and adjacent transportation corridors will not be disrupted or negatively impacted. Only lands that are no longer being used directly for port operations will be considered for redevelopment at this time. All elements of the working port and related infrastructure are to remain in their current use.
